I had brought the mechanical pencils I always keep in my purse and my Prismacolor pencils. While we sat together, I used the time to draw additional images. Some of the drawings were inspired by my Cartooning and Drawing classes at François Dupuis Recreation Centre. I taught the children various background options, drawings from realistic animals to cartoon characters, and different emotions for their characters.
My other inspirations came from nature in my neighbourhood and painting outings to the Mer Bleue bog and Petrie Island.

My friend, Hélène Martin, who lives in Nova Scotia, provided the reference photo of the colourful mushrooms. I am always happy when she joins us for the weekly virtual Painting Buddies meetings that keep us creating art together despite the physical distance.
I have two more months until the end of 2026. I am determined to keep up the daily drawing practice despite the upcoming holidays, even though I know that November and December will be very busy with activities and celebrations. I will have to find ways to squeeze in some creative time. I will keep you updated on the struggles and tricks to make time for creativity.
